The Committee of CeLD – Centro ‘Latina Didaxis’ at the University of Genoa invites submission of abstracts for presentation at the 37th International Latina Didaxis Conference, on the subject: Variations on the Myth. The myth and its variants, scheduled for April 11 and 12, 2024.

In studies on myth, the concept of variation assumes a central importance. A key feature of myth is its fluid and dynamic nature: it never reaches a crystallised form, but is characterised by continuous re-narrations, adaptations, and reinventions, depending on the evolution of socio-cultural contexts and on the expressive needs of different communicative codes and literary genres. The concept of variation, therefore, intersects the growing interest in the pluralism of cultures, submerged or fragmentary literature, and the contamination between communicative codes.

The conference aims to elicit dialogue in an interdisciplinary context, so conveying the complexity of the subject by comparing different approaches and methodologies.

Confirmed speakers are A. Casamento (Univ. Palermo), M.J. Falcone (Univ. Pavia), F. Gasti (Univ. Pavia),

M. Lentano (Univ. Siena), D. Nelis (Univ. Genève), S. Papaioannou (National and Kapodistrian Univ. Athens),

M. Treu (Univ. IULM Milano).

Conference languages are Italian, English and French; proceedings will be published in 2025 in open access on the international journal Classico Contemporaneo.
